La Sphere celebrates the first anniversary of its worldwide fame by jumping into the mainstream. “Sphere Fourth of July Celebration,” a new show at the Exosphere, will air at 9:30 p.m. and at 11:40 p.m. of the 4th of July. “XO Stream,” the official Exosphere broadcast available around the clock, premieres at 9:30 p.m. on July 4 and will be available on thesphere.com and on the venue's official YouTube page.
“XO Audio,” the custom sound system synchronized with Exosphere shows, debuts alongside the live broadcast, and can also be heard live on Sphere property.
Before all the activation, Sphere officials honor the Las Vegas student artists who participated in the Sphere XO Student Design Challenge with an awards ceremony.
Sphere Entertainment CEO and CEO Jim Dolan said this upgrade to the bulbous wonder is just the beginning. “Sphere has become a global landmark that has redefined the live experience, including the Exosphere, a captivating platform for storytelling since it was first illuminated last July 4,” Dolan said in a statement.
“We've only scratched the surface of what Sphere can do both creatively and technologically. Now, with the addition of 'XO Audio' and 'XO Stream', we are reinforcing our commitment to immersive experiences that create a deeper multi-sensory connection, a connection that can be shared throughout the Las Vegas community and around the world.”
The show is presented by Verizon and the content has been created and developed by Sphere Studios, which creates all live entertainment technology for Sphere. The Fourth of July spectacle “highlights America's entrepreneurial and innovative spirit,” according to a press release, detailing the July 4 program:
- The show will begin with a celebration of Sphere's architecture and its impact on the Las Vegas skyline.
- Creatives focused on the stars and stripes will follow and will continue with a nod to the history of Nevada and the Wild West.
- Afterwards, the most impressive contents of the Exosphere during the last year will be transformed into a montage, which will be followed by an innovative creative piece that will turn the Sphere around and highlight the interior of the venue as a “temple of the arts.”
- The show will conclude with a digital fireworks celebration over the Exosphere.
“This Fourth of July we celebrate the Exosphere and all the ways it amazes and connects with audiences around the world, harnessing its impact and reach,” said Jennifer Koester, President and Chief Operating Officer of the Sphere.
“With the launch of both ‘XO Audio’ and ‘XO Stream’ as part of the Exosphere experience, brands and artists can create an even more immersive experience both live and through social media.”
