The Spokane Tribe of Indians has announced it will assume full operational control of the Spokane Tribe Resort Casino beginning April 1, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the tribe’s pursuit of economic sovereignty.
Since its opening, the casino had been managed under a partnership agreement with The Cordish Companies, a nationally recognized developer and operator of entertainment destinations. After years of collaboration and capacity building, the Spokane Tribe is now prepared to manage the property independently.

Tribal Chairman Greg Abrahamson emphasized the move as a step toward long-term sustainability and tribal empowerment. “We are proud of how far we’ve come. This is a powerful moment for our people and a reflection of our dedication to economic self-determination,” Evans stated.

The tribe assured a seamless transition, with no disruptions in operations or staffing. The current team will remain in place as the management responsibilities shift internally. The Spokane Tribe thanked Cordish Companies for their partnership and support throughout the casino’s development phase.

This transition strengthens the tribe’s control over one of its most valuable economic assets and signals a broader trend of Native American nations asserting greater autonomy in the gaming industry.
