Coljuegos, the regulatory entity for games of chance in Colombia, reported that the traditional Chinese game called Keno does not have current regulations in the country and, therefore, cannot be marketed by any operator in Colombian territory.
According to the entity's board of directors, Keno is not included in the category of Internet games with immediate prizes, which is why the exploitation of any similar type of game is not authorized, neither virtually nor locally.
“We have already presented the Keno regulations to the board of directors. Currently, this game is constituted as an illegal practice, since said board determined through Agreement 06 of 2023 that it is not a type of immediate prize and, until it is regulated and awarded, it has no legal basis to operate,"
Coljuegos also warned that those who market this game could be subject to administrative sanctions contemplated in Law 643 of 2001. In addition, all elements used for the operation of the game may be seized by the authorities. It is worth mentioning that, recently, the Superior Court of Bogotá issued a second instance decision that ratifies the ban on Keno in the national territory because there is no regulation or surveillance to protect bettors.
