The Catalan Parliament has rejected a proposal from the VOX parliamentary group demanding the eviction of illegal occupants from Casino Albarrosa in Viladecans. During a press conference, VOX deputy Sergio Macián denounced that "Catalonia has become a paradise for illegal occupation due to left-wing and separatist policies."
The Casino Albarrosa has been illegally occupied since 2019. However, the situation escalated in March 2023 when a group of violent criminals with police records took over the property. Since then, residents have faced a surge in threats, crime, and unsanitary conditions, with theft and drug use becoming a daily reality.
VOX's proposal urged the Generalitat's Ministry of Interior and Public Security to order the Mossos d'Esquadra to carry out an immediate eviction. It also called for negotiations between the Generalitat, the SAREB (the property's current owner), and the Viladecans City Council to transfer the site for public use to benefit the community.
Despite mounting security concerns, the Generalitat refused to support the resolution, leaving residents feeling abandoned. Meanwhile, VOX officials and local council members continue to push for a resolution, warning that inaction allows criminal groups to terrorize the neighborhood.
