10.6 million tourists boost Vietnam’s casino resort ambitions

Published date: 2026-06-05

Vietnam is strengthening its position as one of Asia’s fastest-growing tourism and entertainment destinations, and casino resort operators are closely watching the country’s record 10.6 million international visitors recorded between January and May 2026. The figure represents a 14.9% year-on-year increase, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO), while 1.78 million foreign visitors arrived in May alone. The government is targeting 25 million international arrivals in 2026, following an estimated 21.5 million visitors in 2025, placing Vietnam among the region’s most dynamic tourism markets.

The tourism strategy is overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, led by Nguyễn Văn Hùng, together with the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT). Authorities view international tourism as a key driver of investment, hospitality development and premium consumer spending across the country.

For the gaming industry, the tourism surge reinforces the long-term investment case for Vietnam’s integrated resort sector. The country is home to several of Southeast Asia’s largest casino resorts, including Hoiana Resort & Golf with (Nam Hoi An Integrated Resort), The Grand Ho Tram, Corona Resort & Casino Phu Quoc, and the upcoming Van Don Integrated Casino Resort project in Quang Ninh. These developments combine casinos, luxury hotels, golf courses, convention facilities, retail, entertainment and high-end tourism infrastructure designed to attract international visitors.

Corona Resort & Casino Phu Quoc remains one of the most closely watched properties. The resort generated approximately VND2.2 trillion (US$89 million) in gaming revenue and contributed around VND1.23 trillion to the state budget, highlighting the fiscal significance of Vietnam’s regulated casino sector. Meanwhile, Hoiana Resort & Golf, developed with a first-phase investment estimated at US$1.3 billion, operates more than 1,200 hotel rooms, a large-scale casino, championship golf facilities and extensive hospitality infrastructure targeting regional premium travelers.

The growth story is not based on a direct correlation between tourism arrivals and gaming revenue, but on the increasing pool of potential visitors available to integrated resorts. With international arrivals already surpassing 10 million in the first five months of the year and major resort operators continuing to expand, Vietnam is strengthening its position as a regional tourism hub where casinos, luxury hospitality, entertainment and convention business increasingly operate as part of a single integrated destination strategy designed to compete with Macau, Singapore and the Philippines for Asia’s premium tourism market.
