The satellite casinos, are technically considered category 4 facilities that must have at least 300 slot machines but no more than 750.
The facility also can offer up to 30 table games, and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board can approve up to 10 additional tables after one year of operation.
As part of Pennsylvania’s widespread gambling expansion legislation, the Keystone State is getting ten new casinos, after the law passed back in October of 2017. However, the satellite casino process did not begin until January 2018.
These satellite properties cannot be within 25 miles of an existing Category 1, 2, or 3 licenses. (READ SO: PENNSYLVANIA LOOKING FOR MONEY IN ANY WAY)
The first two auctions out of 10 for satellite casino licenses worth $90.2 million, the first one took place on Jan. 10 with Penn National bidding $50.1 million for the license. They’ll use it to build a casino near Yoe, just a few miles from the Maryland border.
Second one for $40,1 millions in January 24 was transferred to Stadium Casino LLC, the win was a big one for the ownership group, as they’ll soon be breaking ground a casino in Philadelphia.
