Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense seized more than 50 slot machines during a search carried out on September 14, 2026 at a property in the Rafael Buelna neighborhood, south of Culiacán, Sinaloa, as part of a new federal enforcement action against unauthorized gaming machines.
The raid took place at a property located on Avenida Patria, where federal agents entered under judicial authorization and found numerous machines inside a building that was unoccupied at the time of the operation. No arrests were reported.

Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and the Federal Ministerial Police took part in the operation, while Army personnel provided perimeter security. The machines were removed, counted and loaded onto official vehicles for transport to FGR facilities, where they were placed under the custody of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office. The property was secured while the investigation continues.

The Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR) is led by David Boone de la Garza, while the Criminal Investigation Agency is headed by Héctor Elizalde Mora. In Sinaloa, the federal prosecutor identified by the institution is Efraín Alonso Gastélum.
Administrative gambling regulation falls under the Secretariat of the Interior (SEGOB) through the General Directorate of Gaming and Raffles (DGJS). SEGOB is headed by Rosa Icela Rodríguez, while Jorge Roberto Ordóñez Escobar leads the DGJS. The operation falls under the Federal Gaming and Raffles Law, in force since 1947, which requires federal authorization for the legal operation of gambling activities. In Sinaloa, the governor is Rubén Rocha Moya, while the state Public Security Secretariat is headed by General Sinuhé Téllez López.
