Singapore casino revenue tops S$3.5 billion in six months

Published date: 2026-08-19

Singapore surpassed S$3.5 billion in gaming revenue during the first half of 2026, confirming the strength of one of Asia’s most concentrated land-based casino markets, dominated exclusively by Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa.

The main growth engine was Marina Bay Sands (MBS), owned by Las Vegas Sands Corp., whose Chairman and CEO is Patrick Dumont. The integrated resort generated US$2.15 billion in casino revenue in H1 2026, up from US$1.925 billion a year earlier, representing 11.7% growth.

VIP activity was particularly strong. Rolling-chip volume reached US$27.234 billion, compared with US$16.973 billion in H1 2025, a 60.5% increase. Non-rolling chip drop rose 18.4% to US$5.522 billion, while slot handle increased 8.3% to US$12.995 billion. In Q1, MBS generated US$1.126 billion in casino revenue, US$1.487 billion in total net revenue and US$788 million in adjusted property EBITDA. In Q2, casino revenue reached US$1.024 billion, with US$1.380 billion in total net revenue and US$689 million in EBITDA.

The second operator, Resorts World Sentosa, is owned by Genting Singapore, led by Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Executive Chairman and Acting CEO. In Q1, RWS reported S$403.4 million in gaming revenue, down 8%, with total revenue of S$607.6 million, EBITDA of S$179 million and net profit of S$65.2 million. Its VIP rolling volume fell to approximately S$5.6 billion.

Genting is seeking to regain ground through RWS 2.0, a S$6.8 billion transformation program involving new hotels, MICE facilities, retail, dining, waterfront development, Singapore Oceanarium and Minion Land.

Regulation falls under the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), chaired by Hoong Wee Teck since April 1, 2026, with Daniel Tan serving as Chief Executive since June 2. Singapore maintains only two casino licences until at least January 1, 2031. The market is governed by the Casino Control Act 2006, Gambling Control Act 2022 and GRA Act 2022, with GGR tax rates reaching up to 12% for premium players and 22% for other players. In July, the GRA also introduced new technical standards for electronic dice tumblers.
