Who are the potential new net players for the casinos?

Who are the potential new net players for the casinos?

Ask any casino operator what the most important performance metric for slot machines is, and most will respond to "performance against average gain" per unit per day (WPUPD).

For decades, this key data point has been used to rate and evaluate the performance of slot machines and their location on the casino floor.

However, with the desire to involve a younger player base, a stagnation trend to decrease slots revenues and a continuous reduction in slots positions in general, there is a new and critical metric that operators Casinos should consider: the potential for incremental "net" income. New players "who to this day do not play, often or never, in slot machines.

The decrease in revenue per game has led casino operators to implement strategies that create new sources of less profitable income, as reflected in the growth of resort-like properties, along with nightclubs, bars and restaurants throughout the industry .

The key is to attract the youngest audience, who frequents the bars and clubs of the casinos, and attract them with products in the game room.

This will allow casino operators to act on the massive potential of leveraging their previous infrastructure investments to increase their overall profit potential by maintaining non-game related revenues while increasing gambling revenue at the same time.

The casino games based on skills are the right product at the right time to start this commitment with the new net players.

If skill-based casino games accumulate only 2.5 percent of current slot machine locations, this would create a market of more than $ 10 billion by 2021. Assuming that half of the game players based on skills would not normally play slot machines, as a recent survey indicates And, given the difference in demographics and interests of age, this would lead to to new revenues of $ 2 billion dollars or more per year for the US casino market. UU No other opportunity today offers such a large potential expansion of gambling revenues.

Who are these potential new net players for casinos? They are probably less than 40 years old today and are likely to be video game players or enthusiasts.

Currently, they do not have a place to meet, socialize and gamble, despite a great propensity for betting.

In casinos, it is fair to say that money comes from customers and not from machines. Slot machines and other gambling products are a method to entertain players in exchange for income. As a measure of performance, the floor average probably represents "moving money around the floor" as existing players are attracted to the new products. In this way, a new game, no matter how popular it is, usually does not contribute to a large increase in gambling revenue.

Consider a modest casino floor with 1,000 slot machines with an average of $ 250 WPUPD. This translates to a general "win" for the house of $ 250,000 per day, or approximately $ 7.5 million per month.

Adding a new slots product that achieves an average floor multiple probably does not increase overall revenue. In fact, it is more likely to represent a floor optimization that allows a reduction in the total positions of the slots. This is exactly what the industry has seen in recent decades.

Now, imagine the same casino floor if the 50 lower-yield slot machines have been replaced by new gambling products based on skills, optimally in a dedicated area specifically designed to entertain Players. The remaining 950 slot machines will likely see an increase in WPUPD of approximately 5 percent to $ 263, since the same players will spend the same money, only on fewer machines. This has been proven with the general reduction in slot positions.

As most games based on skills offer a slower pace for players, it is accepted that most of them may not achieve WPUPD similar to the higher-grossing slot machines.

However, games based on skills can easily generate $ 200 WPUPD today, and probably much higher since these games are optimized over time in the same way that the optimization of Slot machines has improved in the last hundred years. The 50 new game positions based on
