Planet Hollywood makes its Caucasus play with a premium casino resort in Tbilisi

Published date: 2026-03-27

Planet Hollywood is preparing to plant a major flag in the Caucasus with the planned launch of Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino Tbilisi, a project that would mark the brand’s first property in Georgia and its formal entry into one of the region’s most closely watched hospitality and gaming markets. According to SBC Eurasia, the development is being delivered with Orbi Group and Block Group, with Iconic Entertainment also involved, and is expected to create around 2,000 permanent jobs.

What makes the move notable is not only the brand name, but the format. The project is being framed as a fully integrated resort, combining a hotel, casino, restaurants, rooftop lounge, spa, pool and live entertainment spaces in a single destination asset. That positioning matters because Georgia has increasingly been viewed as a tourism-driven gateway market, where premium hospitality can do more than serve existing demand; it can help shape it.

The timing also looks calculated. Official data from Geostat shows that Georgia recorded 7.8 million international non-resident traveller arrivals in 2025, up 5.9% year-on-year, while international visitor trips reached 6.9 million, a 6.2% increase. The same report identified Tbilisi and Adjara as the country’s most visited destinations, reinforcing the capital’s status as a logical stage for a high-end entertainment and gaming concept.

The macro backdrop strengthens the argument further. The IMF currently projects 5.3% real GDP growth for Georgia in 2026, a pace that supports the country’s image as one of the more dynamic economies in its broader region. In practical terms, that gives global lifestyle and gaming brands a more credible investment case when pairing tourism, urban development and destination spending.

For Planet Hollywood, Tbilisi is more than a hotel announcement. It is a bet that Georgia can support a premium resort model built on entertainment, international visitation and long-stay lifestyle appeal. For the market, it is another sign that the competition for high-value gaming tourism is moving into new territory.
