Asia showed two different gaming trends in August 2026: Jeju Dream Tower in South Korea maintained year-on-year growth despite a month affected by hold, while Macau recorded a year-on-year decline in aggregate GGR even as revenue improved from July.

Lotte Tour Development Co. Ltd. reported on September 1, 2026 that casino sales at Jeju Dream Tower reached KRW46.22 billion, approximately US$33.7 million, up 7.5% year-on-year but down 10.4% month-on-month. The resort, operated by Lotte Tour Development and corporately led by Baek Hyun as Representative Director in its 2026 filings, recorded a record table drop of KRW293.78 billion, up 35.5% monthly and 16.8% year-on-year.

The contrast came from hold. Table games retained just 14.8%, compared with 22.6% in July and 16.4% in August 2025. Table-game sales reached KRW43.49 billion, up 5.7% year-on-year, while gaming machines generated KRW2.73 billion, up 49.5%. The casino received 59,048 visitors, while hotel sales reached KRW8.77 billion. Between January and August, casino sales accumulated KRW363.56 billion, up 29.4%. Jeju Dream Tower operates as a foreigners-only casino under the special regulatory authority of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, led by Governor Oh Young-hun.

In Macau, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) reported on September 1 that August GGR reached MOP21.89 billion, around US$2.71 billion, down 1.2% year-on-year but up 8.1% from July. January-August GGR reached MOP169.05 billion, up 3.7%.

The market is operated by Sands China, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Wynn Macau, MGM China, Melco Resorts & Entertainment and SJM Holdings. Economic oversight falls under Ng Wai Han, Secretary for Economy and Finance since June 15, 2026, under Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai.

The premium segment continued to show strength, Citi observed 525 premium-mass players, down 16%, but wagers of HK$14.3 million, up 7%, with average spending per player of HK$27,284, up 27%. Wynn captured around 29% of observed wagers, compared with 18% a year earlier.
