Boston, October 25, 2026. Massachusetts casinos generated US$82.69 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in September, a 13.6% year-over-year decline, while the state lottery expanded its digital offering with virtual horse racing from Inspired Entertainment. Both developments were reported between October 20 and 23.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC), chaired by Jordan Maynard, reported results from three properties: Encore Boston Harbor, operated by Wynn Resorts in Everett, generated US$46.06 million (−22.1%); MGM Springfield, US$22 million (−1.2%); and Plainridge Park Casino, US$14.6 million (+2.4%).

Encore was affected by a strike that began on September 4, involving more than 1,300 workers represented by UNITE HERE Local 26, headed by Carlos Aramayo, and Teamsters Local 25, led by Tom Mari. The property generated US$26.9 million from slot machines and US$19.1 million from table games, while slot machine wagers reached US$354.4 million. Its tax contribution fell to US$11.5 million.

The casinos generated approximately US$24.2 million in state taxes. Encore and MGM are taxed at 25% of GGR, compared with 49% for Plainridge. Sports betting generated an additional US$71.19 million in taxable revenue.
Meanwhile, on October 21, Inspired Entertainment, headed by Brooks Pierce, introduced Post Time Payout to Mass Lottery Online, launched on July 27, 2026.

The product offers virtual horse racing and makes Inspired the first third-party content provider for iLottery. Its integration uses Fusion, the platform developed by Aristocrat Interactive, whose iLottery Managing Director is Chris Shaban.

The Massachusetts State Lottery, led by Mark William Bracken and institutionally overseen by State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, offers the content to players aged 21 and older, with deposit controls, responsible gambling measures, and self-exclusion options. The agreement does not disclose investment figures, revenue-sharing arrangements, or expected betting volumes, while Wynn Resorts, headed by Craig S. Billings, continues to face the ongoing labor dispute at Encore.
