United States, October 21, 2026. Land-based casinos in Virginia and Louisiana generated a combined nearly $270 million in September 2026, driven by year-over-year growth of 34% and 14%, respectively. Virginia exceeded $97.5 million in adjusted gross gaming revenue (AGR), while Louisiana reached $172.32 million, according to official reports from their respective gaming regulators.

The Virginia Lottery, led by Executive Director Kevin Hall, reported on October 15 that the state's five licensed casinos generated $20.67 million in state gaming taxes. Slot machines contributed $71.58 million, while table games generated approximately $26 million, across 5,435 slot machines and 283 gaming tables.

Caesars Virginia, located in Danville, led the market with $36.15 million, followed by Rivers Casino Portsmouth ($25.89 million) and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol ($21.65 million). The temporary facilities Live! Virginia in Petersburg and The Interim Gaming Hall in Norfolk completed the state's casino market.

More than $6.47 million in tax revenue was allocated to host cities and regional authorities. Virginia applies progressive gaming tax rates of 18%, 23%, and 30% on adjusted gross revenue.

In Louisiana, the Louisiana State Police, through its Gaming Enforcement Division, reported $146.92 million from 15 casinos classified as riverboats and $25.40 million from Caesars New Orleans, which recorded 30.4% growth.

L'Auberge Lake Charles led with $26.72 million, followed by Golden Nugget Lake Charles ($25.09 million), Treasure Chest ($11.92 million), Margaritaville ($11.89 million), L'Auberge Baton Rouge ($11.50 million), and Horseshoe Bossier City ($11.13 million).

Louisiana casinos reported $36.93 million in state gaming obligations and approximately 1.59 million admissions. Regulatory oversight falls under the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, chaired by Christopher B. Hebert, pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statutes, Title 27. Additionally, racetrack slot machines generated $23.16 million, while video gaming machines produced $64.97 million, with both segments reported separately from casino gaming revenue.
