A group of 12 Chinese nationals arrested in Cambodia for kidnapping three people over gambling debts are said to have been working for a Poipet casino.
The 12 men were detained on Saturday and charged with arrest, detainment and unlawful confinement after the families of the victims alerted Cambodian authorities last week,
“After catching the three victims, they took them and detained them in their rental houses, they beat them and tortured them, causing them serious injuries.” Said the Provincial Deputy Police Chief, Brigadier General Sith Lah,
The accused men are loan sharks working in conjunction with a Chinese-owned casino in Poipet city. The name of the casino in question has not been revealed.
