Casino JOA de Gérardmer has completed a €3 million transformation following nearly eight months of construction work, an investment linked to the new 15-year concession that secures the operation of the Vosges property until 2038.
Located at 3 Avenue de la Ville de Vichy, 88400 Gérardmer, facing Lac de Gérardmer, the property completely renovated its gaming floor, restaurant, terraces, bars and internal circulation areas. The project was carried out by Groupe JOA under the local management of Lilian Castaing, General Manager of the casino.
The gaming offering maintains 75 slot machines, with bets starting at €0.01, along with 14 electronic English roulette terminals, starting at €0.50; seven electronic blackjack terminals, starting at €2; and two traditional blackjack tables, with minimum bets of €5. New slot machines were also introduced during the renovation, including an update announced on May 13, 2026.
One of the main additions is a 50-square-meter outdoor gaming terrace, equipped with products including Lightning Link, Cash Connection and video poker. JOA decided not to increase the total number of gaming positions, instead focusing on modernizing and redistributing the existing inventory.
The renovation also added two Sports Bars. One is located outside the casino's identity-controlled area, allowing access to the general public and families with minors; the second is located inside the gaming floor. Previously, the main bar was exclusively integrated into the gaming area.

The renovated restaurant provides 50 indoor seats and 80 terrace seats, for a total capacity of 130 guests overlooking the lake. The Sports Bar adds 30 indoor seats and 50 outdoor seats, as well as giant screens for live sports broadcasts. Casino JOA Gérardmer generated €10.83 million in GGR during the 2024-2025 financial year, placing it 85th in the French casino market. The property operates seven days a week and also includes a cinema, restaurants, terraces and event spaces.
In 2023, JOA secured the renewal of the municipality's Délégation de Service Public (DSP), extending the casino's operating concession until 2038. The group is headed by Laurent Lassiaz, President/CEO, and Laurent Prud'homme, Group Managing Director/COO, who joined on March 2, 2026. JOA operates 33 casinos across France, welcomes more than 4.6 million visitors annually and generated approximately €430 million in gross revenue in 2025.
The corporate backdrop also shifted in July. On July 6, 2026, Banijay Gaming announced an agreement to acquire 100% of JOA from funds managed by Blackstone and Kings Park Capital. The transaction has not yet closed and remains subject to employee consultation and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Autorité de la concurrence, with completion expected during the second half of 2026.
