Managing the gaming industry in Colombia from confusion

"Confucius was one of those who invented Confucius. He was one of the oldest Japanese Chinese," you who read it surely remember the answer in the Miss Universe contest.

I do not intend at any time to ridicule the President of Coljuegos, but that was what I perceived following the interview he gave at the commercial exhibition this past weekend.

The president spoke of how “every machine that is working is a contribution to the transfers of the municipalities” … he also spoke of a campaign “Let's make peace by legalizing them” … Which in my view reveals an enormous incongruity between the speech and the praxis.

Contracts for hundreds of machines are stuck on the desk of no one knows who, because unfortunately they have politicized the entity, something that has never been so evident, and the new workers do not have the slightest idea of the processes or of the functioning of the industry. With the change of officials, valuable knowledge has been lost and if progress is not made, the ISO that was granted to Coljuegos will be lost, given that the knowledge management that is the pillar of the standard is not happening.

Everything should be documented; So, it is easy to understand how the consensus was reached that the contracts that have it comply with this requirement; and they are already acquired rights. In addition to the fact that the law of rationalization of procedures is clear and concise and what better application scenario than this case.

Everything should be documented; So, it is easy to understand how the consensus was reached that the contracts that have it comply with this requirement; and they are already acquired rights.

Operators who judiciously met the requirements in advance for the renewal of permits before Coljuegos, are seeing with anguish how time is running out and/or the casinos must or have closed, due to internal wars and administrative disgrace that the industry does not. they do you good.

It is known to all that, if there are no contracts, there is no income, there are no purchases of equipment, there are no sales, much less legality; and that is a stimulus to fuel illegal gambling...

I am particularly attracted to an expression that, continuing with the thread of the interview, Mr. Hincapié used: “There will be an administrative transformation…” and this kind of messages to the industry does not like nor is it convenient; Be careful that we have co-created a delicate balance between the industry and the regulator, an untouchable and interdependent symbiosis that has taken years to weave and that can be disrupted and spoiled by bad decisions not consulted, in fact we are beginning to see the consequences.

What is clear to me is that the industry is suffering the attacks of forces that have other interests, given the particularities of this government and are not properly intended to continue with everything that we have built "jointly", citing the administration that coined this term and that made us take a quantum leap in administrative matters.

Measurement, we are a jurisdiction that is already part of the global gaming industry, there are investors who follow what is happening here in Colombia, who are bringing investment to the country, which is becoming a hub and reference for all South America.

The game is not a matter of play, it is worth remembering that.
