Casinos starts to look aside to find other earning activities

Caesars Entertainment will start paid self-parking for locals at seven of their Las Vegas properties on November 2.

The organization announced Friday night that Nevada residents will be charged to park at Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas, Bally’s Las Vegas, The Cromwell, Flamingo Las Vegas, The LINQ Hotel & Casino and Harrah’s Las Vegas.

Parking will remain free at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and for all Total Rewards loyalty members rated Platinum and above. Parking at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will also remain free, for the time being.

Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Richard Broome, stated that the company had noticed an increase in people using their properties to park only. Because of this, the self-parking availability for customers of the venues was limited. The goal is to offer more parking for actual customers of the Caesars properties. Caesars Entertainment says the new pricing structure is intended to improve the parking experience for guests and Total Rewards loyalty program members who stay and play at Caesars Entertainment properties.

"Starting November 2, we will begin charging Nevada residents to park at seven of our Las Vegas properties. We have noticed an uptick in people coming to our properties only to park. This has limited the availability of self-parking for our actual customers – especially during concerts and sporting events taking place elsewhere on the Las Vegas Strip.” said Richard Broome, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications.

All guests who enter parking garages are allowed a 60-minute grace period before parking rates apply, this strategy has started to be seen at various countries where the gambling industry has been highly taxed, pointing out Colombian situation where the operators had to achieve different profit activities separated from their main one, the gambling operation.

The change will not affect valet rates. Registered hotel guests of the Caesars properties will be charged a self-parking fee which provides in-and-out access to the self-parking facility. The room key will be used to access the self-parking facilities at Caesars Entertainment properties.
