Maryland’s six land-based casinos generated US$160.0 million in gaming revenue in August 2026, a year-on-year decline of 6.0% and a loss of US$10.26 million compared with the US$170.27 million recorded in August 2025, according to figures released on September 8, 2026 by Maryland Lottery and Gaming (MLG) in Baltimore.
The decline was concentrated among the state’s two largest operators. MGM National Harbor, located in Oxon Hill, Prince George’s County, generated US$66.55 million, down 5.1%. The property, operated by MGM Resorts International, had 2,236 slot machines and 214 table games, with US$42.03 million coming from slots and US$24.52 million from table games. Live! Casino & Hotel, in Hanover, Anne Arundel County, reported US$56.74 million, down 10.2%, the steepest decline of the month. The property, operated by The Cordish Companies and locally led by Ryan Eller, General Manager, operated 3,500 slots and 181 table games.
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, operated by Caesars Entertainment, generated US$14.30 million, down 5.0%. Ocean Downs Casino, in Worcester County, edged up 0.1% to US$10.26 million. Hollywood Casino Perryville, operated by Penn Entertainment, was the strongest performer, rising 10.3% to US$7.41 million. Rocky Gap Casino Resort, operated by Century Casinos and led by Brian Kurtz, fell 4.1% to US$4.75 million.
The casinos contributed US$68.51 million to the state, down 4.2%. Of that total, US$50.16 million went to the Education Trust Fund, around US$8.6 million to local jurisdictions, close to US$8 million to horse racing, and US$1.7 million to programs supporting small, minority- and women-owned businesses.
Maryland Lottery and Gaming is led by John Martin, with Craig Lindsey serving as Deputy Director/COO and Michael Eaton as Managing Director, Gaming. In the first two months of FY2027, July and August, Maryland casinos generated US$317.87 million, approximately 5.4% lower year-on-year.
