North Dakota is dead pretty fast

North Dakota’s 2017 casino proposal, initiated by the state lawmakers looking forward to finding access in order to add six private casinos more with a Las Vegas Style; those casinos must be located 40 miles away from an existing Native American casino.

One state lawmaker reportedly cited concerns that the casino proposal, which North Dakota’s tribal groups opposed, was in retaliation to protests against the pollution of drinking water in the state.

“For months, activists have been trying to stop the state from allowing the Dakota Access Pipeline”

The law was rejected by a 28-63 vote. Jonathan Jorgensen, president of the Charitable Gaming Association of North Dakota, also welcomed the resolution’s defeat. He said people have a limited amount of discretionary income to spend on entertainment. “Some of that money was going to be going away from charitable gaming and it would have been going to these privately-owned casinos,” Jorgensen said. The pipeline would bring about $110 million annually to the state’s coffers.
