Nugget drives 93% EBITDAR surge as century casinos hits record high

Published date: 2026-08-11

Century Casinos closed the second quarter of 2026 with the highest revenue and Adjusted EBITDAR ever recorded for a second quarter in its history, driven by growth at Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada, and improved performance across its operations in Missouri, Colorado and Alberta.

Between April and June, the company generated US$152 million in net operating revenue, up 1% year-over-year, while Adjusted EBITDAR increased 5% to US$31.7 million. Net loss attributable to shareholders narrowed 75% to US$0.7 million. The results were released on August 7 for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

The main growth engine was Nugget Casino Resort, operated by Century in the Reno-Sparks market. Revenue increased 16%, while Adjusted EBITDAR jumped more than 93% to US$4.5 million, following another 93% increase in the first quarter. Slot coin-in rose approximately 6%, hotel cash revenue increased by more than 36%, and customers with an average daily theoretical above US$400 grew by roughly 20%.

Entertainment strengthened those results. Brooks & Dunn sold more than 7,800 tickets in April, while Keith Urban's June concert generated more than US$250,000 in incremental profit.

Century's seven U.S. properties generated a combined US$111.6 million, up 5%. The portfolio includes Nugget; Mountaineer Casino, Resort & Races in West Virginia; Rocky Gap Casino, Resort & Golf in Maryland; Century Casino & Hotel Cape Girardeau and Caruthersville in Missouri; and the casinos in Cripple Creek and Central City, Colorado. Since May 15, 2026, these operations have been overseen by Lyle Randolph, Executive Vice President of U.S. Operations.

Canada also advanced. Century's four Alberta properties generated US$20.4 million, up 2.2%, and US$6.2 million in Adjusted EBITDA, up 11%. Century Mile Racetrack and Casino achieved its highest quarterly EBITDA since opening and increased coin-in by 11.2%, while Century St. Albert posted record coin-in levels in May and June.

Poland weighed on growth. Operations generated US$19.9 million, but only US$0.1 million in Adjusted EBITDA. The result reflected the closure of Hilton Warsaw Casino in June 2025 after its gaming license was not renewed, startup costs at the new Wrocław Casino, opened in February 2026 at Hotel Corona, and exceptionally low table-game hold at the casino inside Warsaw's Presidential Hotel, which reduced revenue by approximately US$1 million versus theoretical expectations.

Century remains led by Erwin Haitzmann, Chairman and Co-CEO, and Peter Hoetzinger, Vice Chairman, President and Co-CEO, with a portfolio spanning casinos in the United States and Canada and a controlling 66.6% stake in Casinos Poland.
