Genting Malaysia accelerated the transformation of Malaysia’s only legal land-based casino in May 2026, reinforcing Resorts World Genting as one of Asia’s leading integrated resorts. Following strategic updates discussed during the group’s AGM and corporate disclosures released on May 14, alongside the publication of the official Integrated Annual Report 2025 in April, the company confirmed new investments in ecotourism, artificial intelligence, hospitality and entertainment aimed at strengthening long-term growth and tourism positioning across the region.
Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay
The conglomerate is globally led by Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman of Genting Group, while Genting Malaysia is chaired by Dato’ Sri Lee Choong Yan and managed by president and CEO Tan Kong Han. Resorts World Genting remains the only licensed land-based casino operation in Malaysia under the historical framework of the Betting Act 1953 and the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, with the original exclusive casino license dating back to 1969. Entry restrictions for Malaysian Muslims and minors remain in place.
Official 2025 financial results show why Genting continues expanding aggressively. The company reported revenue of RM11.9bn, compared with RM10.9bn in 2024, while adjusted EBITDA increased to RM3.3bn from RM2.9bn. Net profit surged to RM700m, sharply above the RM200m recorded a year earlier. Market capitalization reached approximately RM12bn (USD2.9bn) as of December 31, 2025, while issued and paid-up capital stood at RM1.7645bn, represented by 5.938 billion ordinary shares. Resorts World Genting continues to absorb around 28.6 million annual visitors, reinforcing its role as one of Malaysia’s largest tourism and indirect tax contributors.
The next growth phase will be led by Eufloria, Malaysia’s largest greenhouse complex, developed as part of the national Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. The project will feature four themed glasshouses, more than 1,000 plant species and capacity for 8,000 simultaneous visitors. Genting also reopened the redesigned championship golf course at Resorts World Awana and signed a strategic partnership with AGIBOT on April 17 to introduce AI-powered robotics into hospitality, leisure and entertainment operations.
