In 2011 the Gambling sector became a decentralized entity of the Colombian Ministry of Finance, and from that moment all the efforts of Coljuegos were focused on working to achieve more and more resources for the health of Colombians.
From then until today, gambling sector have contributed more than 3.8 million Colombian pesos to the health of Colombians represented in exploitation rights, and illegality has been fought to achieve greater contributions to health with more than 1,900 actions control and the withdrawal of more than 27,000 elements of ilegal gambling.
The president of Coljuegos, Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, celebrated the Coljuegos nine years of creation on Tuesday, November 3, as a regulatory and administrative entity of gambling in Colombia. “We are pleased that this is an entity that has contributed decisively to the financing of the health of Colombians, that it has managed to diversify the portfolio of gambling and that it has become a benchmark in Internet gambling regulation in Latin America ”, affirmed Pérez Hidalgo.
There are three major challenges on which Coljuegos will prioritize their actions. The increase in collection for exploitation rights without suffocating the casinos operator as after the COVID-19 has been one of the biggest obstacles on the sector through new gambling opportunities, the fight against illegality and institutional strengthening, not only of Coljuegos but also of the sector.
Under these axes, the industry must continue to appropriate new technologies to grow and offer more experiences to users; It is necessary to continue advancing in a coordinated manner with the territorial entities and the National Police in the fight against illegality, both through operations and in blocking web pages that operate without permission from Coljuegos, and to continue modernizing the regulator and professionalizing it industry.
The use of cutting-edge technologies and the incursion of new, more sophisticated products have allowed the sector of gambling in Colombia to transform in recent years into a vital industry that makes significant contributions to the economy.
Since the creation of the entity, Coljuegos has promoted the expansion of the offer of gambling as an entertainment option for Colombians, which has allowed the generation of greater resources for health. “Since 2016, the Baloto game was renewed and today it has the highest number of winners and best accumulated, such as Revancha, which today has the highest in its history of more than 58,000 million; SUPER Astro, meanwhile, has broken sales records despite the pandemic, and in the last year, Coljuegos has promoted games such as live casino, bingo with remote player presence and the recently approved immediate response incentive by the National Council of gambling ”, Pérez Hidalgo stated.
Finally, the president of Coljuegos reiterated that for the next few years Coljuegos should aim to consolidate the gambling that are part of the portfolio, as well as advance in the implementation of the new alternatives promoted within the framework of the economic reactivation plan of the industry.
