Chile, October 6, 2026; despite court orders and the administrative blocking of 79 domains during September, traffic to 17 unauthorized online betting operators grew 28% year-on-year, from 19.5 million visits in August 2025 to 24.9 million in August 2026. Those platforms accounted for 81% of the traffic analyzed, compared with 19% for Lotería de Concepción and Polla Chilena de Beneficencia.

The study, prepared by Apuesta Legal using Similarweb data, also showed a peak of 32.1 million visits in July 2026. Apuestas Royal, which sponsored 11 of the 16 clubs in the Liga de Primera for around US$3 million, increased from 1.09 million visits in June to 2.39 million in August, up about 120%. Awintura jumped from 3,530 to 52,708 visits, while JetBet reached 10,366. Blask detected 145 active brands in the first quarter, seven more than a year earlier, with Google demand up 42%.

The official response accelerated in September. On September 1, the Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel) ordered Entel, Movistar, Claro, GTD, WOM and VTR to block 42 URLs by DNS after they were referred by the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ), with a 48-hour compliance deadline. On September 21, Subtel added another 37 domains and mirror sites, linked to brands including Betano, Betsson, Betcris, 1xBet, Betway, Betfair and Bet365.

Subtel is headed by Romina Garrido Iglesias, while the SCJ continues under acting superintendent Eduardo Cáceres Guzmán. The legal framework remains unresolved. Bill 14.838-03, now in its second legislative stage in the Senate, seeks to regulate online betting platforms and transform the SCJ into an authority with broader powers. The Senate Economy Committee, chaired by Gastón Saavedra, is discussing the proposal alongside Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz Castro.
