Argentina unifies self-exclusion across casinos and online betting

Published date: 2026-11-03

Mendoza, November 2, 2026. The Argentine provinces of Mendoza, San Juan, and San Luis signed an interprovincial agreement to unify their gambling self-exclusion registries, preventing individuals who have voluntarily excluded themselves from casinos and online betting from circumventing restrictions by moving between jurisdictions. The agreement establishes a maximum period of 120 days to implement system interoperability.

The initiative was signed in Mendoza by Ida Magdalena López, President of the Provincial Institute of Gaming and Casinos (IPJyC); Juan Pablo Medina, President of the San Juan Social Action Fund; and Héctor Rodolfo Mazzina, Director of the San Luis Social and Financial Fund. The mechanism will enable secure information sharing, extending restrictions imposed in one province to the other two, covering both land-based casinos and authorized online gambling platforms.

Individuals already registered for self-exclusion will be able to voluntarily join the regional system, while new applications will be covered once implementation is complete. The initiative is being developed under the provincial administrations of Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza), Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), and Claudio Poggi (San Luis), without modifying each province's individual regulatory powers.

Mendoza brings technological experience through its Unified Self-Exclusion Registry (RUAM), connected to biometric controls at gambling establishments since 2021. Its procedures, updated through Resolution 160/2026, allow exclusion periods ranging from three months to five years.

Mendoza's regulatory framework also includes Law 9,267 of 2020, governing online gambling, and Resolution 554/2022, which establishes technical obligations for licensed operators such as BetWarrior, bplay, Codere, Betano, Casino Club Online, Super7, and Sportsbet. In San Juan, the standard self-exclusion period is four years, with the possibility of requesting revocation after six months, subject to specific requirements.

Authorities emphasized gambling addiction prevention and the protection of vulnerable players, in accordance with National Law 25,326 on Personal Data Protection. The agreement does not specify technology investment, budget allocations, the number of beneficiaries, or connected establishments. Its joint implementation remains pending.
