The Ministry of Finances of Czech Republic has imposed 24 fines totaling USD$20.4m since the launch of the regulated market, but has unable to collect them all, just USD$10,750m nearly the 50% of all.
This due to the lack of any real tools to compel companies with no physical presence in the country to cough up the dough. Adding to that, there are operators based outside the country, making difficult to do the payment across the pond.
“The main purpose of the fines is not the enrichment of the Treasury, but the restriction of the illegal offer of gambling. Fines have not only a restrictive but also a preventative effect.” Stated the Ministry
The blacklist of online operators that serve in the country contains 116 names.
