YOHO Group is redeveloping the long-shuttered Greek Mythology Casino site in Taipa, Macau into a hotel-led complex anchored by a Macau-themed food-and-beverage hub—explicitly without reopening gaming operations.
At the center of the plan is a MOP30 million (about US$3.7 million) investment to build a 17-stall food court with roughly 260 indoor and 50 outdoor seats, inside the property now branded YOHO Gold Coast Hotel. YOHO says stall allocation will prioritize Macau residents, first-time entrepreneurs, and local SMEs, with incentives including fit-out support and one year rent-free for selected operators.

The broader redevelopment is designed as a two-hotel project totaling about 940 rooms (reported as roughly 700 five-star rooms plus 240 additional rooms), located next to Melco’s Altira in Taipa. Trial operations are currently targeted for Q3 2026, with a staged reopening through 2026 tied to licensing and developer filings.

The site’s history has been unusually turbulent. The property opened in 1992 (later rebranded as the Beijing Imperial Palace Hotel) and ceased operations in 2016 amid disputes. The casino itself was confirmed closed on Dec. 31, 2015 as a satellite operating under SJM’s licence.

For Macau’s evolving hospitality map, this is a Diamond-level pivot: replacing an eyesore with rooms and spend—without adding tables.
