United States, October 20, 2026. Maryland recorded $4.98 billion in sports betting handle between January and September 2026, representing 9% year-over-year growth, while Louisiana reached $405.1 million in September, its highest monthly betting volume of the year, up approximately 1%. Both markets recorded an expansion in wagering activity, although operators faced pressure on revenue and state tax collections.

The online segment accounted for $641.15 million, compared with $11.05 million at retail sportsbooks. Taxable revenue reached $45.92 million, while state tax collections fell 32.5% to $9.1 million, down from $13.47 million in September 2025.
