Following the progressive reactivation of some sectors such as commerce from the first week of this month, other businesses maintain lofty expectations for the government to authorize their operation. This is the case of the casinos, which in May sent the protocols to the Ministry of Health in order to resume their activities.
Since they have not yet received a response, another letter was sent to the Government by the guilds. That detail the balance of the affectation in bingos and casinos, given that the lottery and chance already operate.
"With this scenario of total uncertainty and unsustainability of the operation, more than 60,000 direct jobs and 180,000 indirect jobs are at risk, mainly the homes of 80% of female heads of household and first job," the document highlights.
In Colombia, the casinos and bingos of the country are not spaces for mass assistance and that the capacity does not normally exceed 50% occupation. Furthermore, among gel dispensers, signs, employee training and other aspects necessary for the industry in accordance with biosafety standards, the operators of these businesses are investing approximately $ 500,000 million COP.
After three months, in which the closure of 2,765 casino and bingo establishments was ordered through resolution 453 of 2020, the losses for the sector are close to $ 1 billion COP. In this sense, the industry has stopped transferring $ 90,000 million COP to health, $ 45,000 million COP for VAT and $ 9,000 million COP to Coljuegos administration expenses, not counting the 678,000 million COP of the operating expenses of these business.
