Last December 18, 2021, the Boyacá Lottery was played, in which one of its prizes was a scratch and win of notebooks: "We had mixed 50 laptops and, I repeat, due to a human error of our printing company, 50 thousand computers were mixed, of which there are more than 20 thousand happy winners", said at that time the manager of the Lottery, Ángela Ávila.
The Consejo Nacional de Juegos de Suerte y Azar (CNJSA) a national body regulator, asked the lottery for explanations as to when it will deliver the prizes.
"The Technical Secretariat upon observing this eventuality with the promotional game called NAVI TRIKI, required the lottery to inform us the procedure to act on these facts," the entity demanded.
The winners were supposed to receive their computers in mid-January and to date a little more than 5,000 copies have been delivered. The Boyacá Lottery responded that since the number of prizes is so high, they are joining efforts to deliver the prizes as soon as possible.
For its part, the CNJSA, transferred the complaints received from the people who were winners to the lottery to inform them the reasons why the prize has not been cancelled. In addition, they assured that they will follow up on the response given by the lottery.
On the other hand, the Council explained that since it is a promotional game, it is exempted by Law 643 of 2001, so neither Coljuegos nor the Technical Secretariat of the National Gaming Council have the competence to oversee the delivery of such prizes, therefore, they invited the victims to file their claim before the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce.
Finally, the Lottery announced that an investigation was initiated to establish how the error in the printing of the scratch cards occurred, in which it is being analyzed if there was a possible leak by the employees and which caused a massive purchase of tickets.
