Apple Sports App Launches with Live Betting Odds from DraftKings.

Apple Sports App Launches with Live Betting Odds from DraftKings.

Apple launched its first sports app Wednesday, which features real-time scores and live betting odds. The live odds featured on Apple Sports are provided by DraftKings. Users have the option to turn off live betting odds in their settings at any time, according to an Apple press release.

DraftKings is working with Apple to display real-time betting odds for the Apple Sports app. Customers have the ability to turn off betting odds in settings,”

Apple Sports can launch streaming sports.

The app can also launch games that are streaming within the Apple TV app. Users can tap on a score and have that game launch on the Apple TV app, as long as they have the necessary subscriptions.

Apple has rights to Major League Soccer, and Major League Baseball’s Friday Night Baseball games. MLB is not currently in-season, but Apple included it in a list of leagues that it will have scores and odds for during their upcoming seasons.

We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, said in the announcement. “Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store, and makes it easy for users to stay up to date with their favorite teams and leagues.”

The app is available in the US, UK and Canada. Sports betting odds identical to DraftKings are displayed in each country.

Another odds-scores partnership

The reported odds integration deal follows similar partnerships sports betting companies have inked to get into a place where people check scores. BetMGM and Twitter announced a deal earlier this month to embed the sportsbook’s odds into the social media platform.

The scores section of ESPN’s app added features odds from ESPN Bet, after the Worldwide Leader agreed to a $2 billion deal with Penn Entertainment last Summer.

Penn CEO Jay Snowden has been vocal about the importance of placing odds in the same place fans get their scores.
