Casino Del Sol storms Tucson with 924 slots

Published date: 2026-07-30

Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taa’am will open on November 15, 2026, becoming the first casino within Tucson’s city limits and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s third gaming property. The complex is located at 1055 West Grant Road, next to Interstate 10, on Old Pascua Community land.

The 163,000-square-foot property will contain a 52,334-square-foot gaming floor with 924 slot machines, including 56 high-limit games, seven bar-top gaming stations, table games, a High Limit Lounge and the SolSports sportsbook. The final number of tables has not been disclosed; previous information mentioned 21, but the latest official specifications no longer confirm that figure.

The development will include OP Grill, a 174-seat restaurant inspired by Old Pascua, and Sewa Market, bringing together UME, StreetScape and Abuelita’s Taqueria. Center Bar, OP Grill Bar and High Limit Bar will complete the offering. A four-level parking garage will provide more than 1,200 spaces.

Architectural features include a 26-foot copper dome, vaulted ceilings, patterned terrazzo flooring, wood accents, archways and decorative ironwork. Artist Joe Pagac created a 24,000-square-foot mural for the interior dome ceiling, supported by programmable lighting that will simulate the transition from midday to a Sonoran Desert sunset.

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe owns and operates the property. Julian Hernandez chairs the Tribe; Amanda Sampson Lomayesva is interim CEO of Casino Del Sol, while Lesah Sesma, who has spent more than 15 years with the enterprise, will manage Vahi Taa’am. McCarthy Building Companies is constructing the property, designed by Yaeger Architecture.

The project will create 500 jobs. Its total investment has not been disclosed. Development was enabled by the Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition Act, enacted as federal law on December 27, 2022. Operations will be governed by the Arizona–Pascua Yaqui gaming compact and overseen by the Arizona Department of Gaming, led by Jackie Johnson.
