Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe operators of two massive casinos in Connecticut, have begun to unify efforts with local lawmakers in order to change policy on alcohol so that they can serve drinks for longer.
In their deposition they want to get the permit of serving alcoholic beverages beyond 1am on weekdays and 2am on Saturdays and Sundays.
Alleging that the casinos in Connecticut would be in disadvantage with properties as MGM Springfield facility, which is set to open in the neighboring state of Massachusetts from August 24 offering active gamblers the ability to get drinks until 4am.
The tribes request is currently being considered by state lawmakers, although it came with opposition of numerous local residents whom alleged that the extension would lead to more drink-driving accidents and public safety would be disturbed.
