North America's regulated online gaming market continued to gather momentum in June 2026, as Ontario posted a 30% year-on-year increase in online wagering while Missouri strengthened its newly launched sports betting industry with US$258.3 million in wagers. Together, the two jurisdictions illustrate how digital gambling is becoming the primary engine of growth across the continent.

In Canada, iGaming Ontario (iGO) reported that regulated wagering expanded by 30% compared with June 2025, driven by online casino, sports betting and peer-to-peer poker. The figures exclude promotional wagers, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) online activity and pari-mutuel horse racing. Since the regulated market opened on April 4, 2022, Ontario has grown into North America's largest competitive online gaming jurisdiction, operating with approximately 47 licensed operators, 81 regulated websites and a 91.1% channelization rate, meaning more than nine out of every 10 online players now choose licensed platforms.

The market is managed by iGaming Ontario, led by President and CEO Joseph Hillier, while regulatory oversight remains with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Operators active in the province include BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, Caesars, BetRivers, GGPoker and 888poker. The sustained expansion aligns with iGO's 2026–2029 business strategy, which includes launching a centralized self-exclusion system, strengthening anti-money laundering capabilities and expanding market data services.

South of the border, the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) reported US$258.3 million in sports betting handle for June, edging above the US$256.4 million recorded in May. The market has been operating only since December 1, 2025, yet online sportsbooks already account for nearly all betting activity. Missouri taxes sports wagering at 10% of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) and publishes monthly reports detailing handle, operator performance, tax collections and revenue trends. The commission is chaired by Jan M. Zimmerman, with Michael A. Leara serving as Executive Director.

While Ontario continues to diversify across online casino, betting and poker, Missouri is rapidly establishing itself as a digital-first sports betting market. Their June results underscore a broader North American trend: regulated online gaming is not only expanding in volume but also reinforcing consumer migration toward licensed operators, higher tax receipts and increasingly sophisticated regulatory oversight.
