The Buenos Aires Province Chamber of Deputies is seeking to consolidate 22 bills on online gambling, minors, advertising, digital payments and gambling addiction into a comprehensive text to be brought to the floor in October 2026, under the coordination of the Committee on Gambling, Lottery and Gambling Addiction Prevention.

The committee, chaired by Micaela Edith Olivetto, held a new working session on September 16 and is currently reviewing 27 files, including the 22 legislative proposals. Over the past two years, more than 50 initiatives related to online betting and problem gambling have been introduced.
Lawmakers participating in the debate include Diego Garciarena, committee secretary and head of the UCR + Cambio Federal caucus; Fernando Rovello, Juan Pablo De Jesús, Marcela Basualdo, Roberto Vázquez, Lucía Iañez, Jazmín Carrizo and Fabián Luayza. María Alejandra Lordén, who proposed moving forward with a framework law, and Christian Castillo of the Left Front-Unity also took part.

The bills also come from Fuerza Patria, PRO, Coalición Cívica, Nuevos Aires, Unión y Libertad and La Libertad Avanza. Olivetto said that during the September 29 session she will seek to centralize in her committee the files that remain distributed among other committees.
Measures under discussion include biometric validation and proof-of-life checks, controls on digital wallets, deposit and session limits, restrictions on advertising and influencers, blocking illegal sites, filters on school and public Wi-Fi networks, prevention programs and 24/7 assistance.

The market is already regulated under Law 15.079, which allows up to seven online licenses, sets a minimum age of 18, requires a minimum levy of 2% of gross profits, and allocates another 8% to municipalities and the provincial General Revenue Fund.
The regulator is the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC), chaired by Gonzalo Raico Atanasof, with María Laura García serving as Vice President. Atanasof is expected to appear before lawmakers to explain current oversight and the new 2% withholding on online betting prizes. The Chamber is chaired by Alejandro Dichiara, with Gervasio Bozzano serving as Legislative Secretary. Any bill receiving initial approval must then move to the provincial Senate, chaired by Verónica Magario.
