Robert Farah Colombian tennis player in trouble for promoting sportsbook

The Tennis Integrity Unit is a joint initiative of Grand Slam, the International Tennis Federation, the ATP and the WTA, which have jointly committed to a zero-tolerance approach to corruption in tennis.




This unit has a program against corruption in Tennis called TAGP , in which section D.1.b explains that any player should not give information about matches to take advantage of bets, so, to avoid Any doubt, it is prohibited to appear in advertisements or promote betting houses.

Robert did not comply with section D.1.b of the TAGP in February of this year when he publicly posted on his Twitter account a tweet in which he promoted a betting network. Immediately, Farah eliminated the publication after having noticed this error.

However, the Tennis Integrity Unit contacted him to notify him that an investigation process would begin, in which the Colombian tennis player collaborated permanently and apologized with the commitment not to commit such a mistake in the future.

In this way, the punishment that the Colombian tennis player received for incurring in said lack was an economic penalty of $ 5,000 (about 15 million pesos), in addition to a three-month ineligibility.

But the latter was modified and stayed in such a way that the tennis player will be able to continue competing and with the commitment not to commit another fault against the Anticorruption program in Tennis.

If he were to commit a breach of the TAGP regulations in the 3-month period, the suspension would be applied immediately.
