Corporate Social Responsibility “A Commitment of all for the development and Sustainability of the Gambling Sector”

Corporate Social Responsibility "A Commitment of all for the development and Sustainability of the Gambling Sector"

For the National Corporation of Entrepreneurs of Gambling sector, Cornazar, Corporate Social Responsibility is a subject of great significance for the sector, for the State and for the Colombian society, which is the main beneficiary with the contributions that the sector returns to the State, through the high taxes.

According to the Regulatory Entity, Coljuegos, the sector contributes with more than 1.5 billion Colombian pesos a year for health, and this makes us aware as a union because both society and the sector need us, therefore we must fulfill them, returning them, not only in economic capital, but also, in social responsibility.

Taking into account this premise, we have undertaken the development of a Corporate Social Responsibility project worthy of our full attention. It is a duty that all companies have, to develop a social purpose, oriented to provide welfare to society, since what is sought is to act on behalf of it, under correct strategies of progressive improvement, logically, without attempting against the main objectives of the activity that we develop

This project is proposed in order to improve the relationship of our businessmen with society and with their public and private interest groups.

In this process, fundamental objectives for its development were framed; First, establish the key signifiers about the term and its implications to generate a model according to the business model; secondly, to improve the image of the localized lucky and chance gamers that results in financial, contractual and social stability; and third, increase resources for subsidized health of Colombians, promoting legality and transparency in the gaming sector.

With these information parameters, collected through a series of structured interviews addressed to the Cornazar associates, and after carrying out this study accompanied by the University Pontificia Bolivariana of Medellín, it was concluded that, for its development, it was necessary guide the project under three dimensions, such as, the social, the economic and the environmental. These three dimensions were subdivided internally and externally, presented as the irremovable fronts that must be worked on when undertaking a Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.

Based on the understanding of each one of them, strategic lines were drawn up that group the initiatives that each dimension must attack and establish themselves as the philosophy of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy to be undertaken.

In the case of the social dimension, the prevention of addiction at all organizational levels is a priority; added to this, seek to promote healthy environments in the work and family context of the gaming industries to increase productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of the workforce and the employer, recognizing that we are not guilty, but responsible. We are committed against any addiction in the environment; and linked to the search for structural solutions. We seek to generate awareness of "Positive Leisure" in the customers of games of chance and their families with public and private tools that mitigate the addictions in the game.

In this dimension, we summarize the contribution and the realization of adequate actions to preserve and improve the market in which the organization develops, the community that surrounds it and the resources it uses, where not only economic support is required, but also support with resources and time.

In the Environmental Dimension, the care and preservation of the planet cannot be left to chance. In this dimension, we emphasize responsible consumption and sustainable development, which contributes to the search for strategies that mitigate the harmful actions for the environment, produced by the games rooms, and that result in environmental sustainability. Landscaping is another important aspect as an environment free of addictions; in it, we elaborate, promote and protect the green environment as spaces that reduce addictive pathologies in the geographical context of the rooms.

Appropriate processes of destruction, supporting a final disposition determined to each game machine.

Regarding the economic dimension, reference is made to the fact that the company is expected to be economically sustainable over time, that is, that it generates profits and remains afloat in the market. This dimension prioritizes the generation and distribution of added value not only in accordance with market conditions, but also considers equity and fairness among shareholders and collaborators. It is important in this dimension, to promote the culture of transparency in localized luck and chance games that promote business ethics, fair competition, economic and legal stability, and finally the fight against illegality in favor of public health.

It should be remembered that the games of luck and chance located as subsidiary of public health in Colombia and promoters of quality of life, science and innovation, allow to establish strategic relationships with the sectors and entities benefited by the distribution of the tributes of the games of luck and chance that they undermine the stigmatization of the gaming industry.

In this project of Corporate Social Responsibility, we have come to the conclusion that all the dimensions and strategic areas treated in this short summary, require a very planned and organized application within organizations, in such a way that the vision and mission of the organization Align at all levels with the care and preservation of resources, the environment and the community.

For the National Corporation of Games of Luck and Chance, Cornazar, headed by its president, Dr. Elizabeth Maya Cano, the strategy "Play with transparency for the health of Colombia" is a fundamental pillar of this project that seeks to tell Colombians that legality and transparency are part of the sector that contributes to health, pension funds and science and innovation.

Grow and innovate with this plan is to allow the gambling sector to consolidate as a guild worth keeping, because if we fall, the health of Colombians falls, and this would be catastrophic for society; that is why we work at all costs to do our best for the continuous improvement that benefits us all; and we will not rest until we achieve it.

Take it to all state instances, and why not, private, is our greatest challenge. For this, we will start, introducing it to the other associations that are part of the Gambling sector such as Fecoljuegos and Asojuegos; and later, our next objective is Coljuegos as a Regulatory Entity, who will be in charge of supporting and leading the hand of its President, Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, the implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility project.
