Hotel Lisboa launches Crystal Palace Phase 2 in Macau

Published date: 2026-05-27

SJM Holdings is preparing one of Macau’s most important hospitality and gaming activations of summer 2026 with the launch of the second phase of Crystal Palace Casino and the gradual opening of more than 400 renovated rooms at the historic Hotel Lisboa, located in the heart of the Macau Peninsula. The project is part of the transformation strategy led by Daisy Ho Chiu Fung, Chairman and Executive Director of SJM Holdings and Managing Director of SJM Resorts, aimed at turning the Lisboa district into a large-scale premium integrated resort by 2027.

The second phase of Crystal Palace is scheduled to open between July and August 2026, subject to approval from Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), the territory’s official gaming regulator. The casino is located inside Hotel Lisboa on Avenida de Lisboa, one of Asia’s most historic gaming districts. The first phase had already reopened in November 2025 following an acquisition and asset restructuring deal valued at approximately HK$529 million, equivalent to nearly US$68 million.

At the same time, SJM will progressively launch more than 400 refurbished hotel rooms during summer and the second half of 2026, including expanded suites, upgraded premium accommodations and the return of the iconic Noite e Dia restaurant. The renovation also includes a redesigned lobby, new retail areas, upgraded connectivity with Grand Lisboa and the relocation of operational and VIP facilities.

The project is operated by SJM Resorts, S.A., Macau gaming concessionaire under the license running from 2023 to 2032. As part of the concession commitments, SJM pledged investments totaling approximately MOP14.03 billion, including around MOP12 billion dedicated to non-gaming projects.

The company is strengthening directly operated assets across the Macau Peninsula while Grand Lisboa Palace continues scaling operations in Cotai. During 2025, Grand Lisboa Palace generated revenues of HK$7.373 billion, while first-quarter 2026 GGR reached HK$1.752 billion, representing 11.7% year-over-year growth.

SJM’s board also includes Angela Leong On Kei, Timothy Fok Tsun Ting, Patrick Tsang On Yip and Marina Wong Yu Pok. The company’s 2026 strategy focuses on repositioning Lisboa District as a premium tourism, gaming and hospitality hub in downtown Macau through hotel modernization, gaming expansion and stronger penetration into the Asian high-spending tourism segment.
