ICE Barcelona 2025 has established itself as one of the most relevant forums for the global gaming industry. Spain’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) stood out for its leadership in an international debate focused on strengthening regulatory measures, promoting responsible gambling, and driving technological innovation as key tools to ensure player safety.

During the presentations and discussion panels, DGOJ representatives presented concrete proposals to address current challenges. Among them was the development of a unified self-exclusion system to operate at the European level, allowing players with addiction issues to limit their access across multiple jurisdictions. This initiative, supported by regulators from other countries, underscores Spain’s commitment to international cooperation in mitigating the risks of uncontrolled gambling.

Another significant proposal was the implementation of stricter transparency standards for gaming operators’ operations. The DGOJ emphasized the need for companies to adopt blockchain-based traceability technologies, enabling regulators and end-users to verify transactions and payout rates in real time.
New air

The move to Fira Gran Via has given Clarion the opportunity to add new activities and enhance existing ones. Among the new features that have caught the attention of attendees is the first ever ICE Association Assembly, which has been created to enable trade bodies to promote their values and create new opportunities.

Meanwhile, what was previously known as ICE VOX has been renamed The World Gaming Forum (WGF). According to Clarion, this new presentation more accurately reflects the credentials of events such as the World Regulatory Briefing, the new Casino & Leaders Conference (formerly ICC), and the new Esports & Games Conference – formerly Esports Betting Conference.
