Land-based casinos reopened in Pennsylvania last month, driving gambling revenue in the state to a record-breaking $423.8m. July’s figure is 49.7 per cent higher year-on-year and over $10m better than the previous record, set at $413.2m in May.
Revenue in July 2020 barely reached $283.1m as some facilities faced Covid-19-related closures or restrictions.
This year, the land-based segment performed best, with retail slots revenue up 35 per cent to $222.9m, table games up 65.5 per cent to $86.9m and video gambling terminals up 81 per cent to $3.8m.
Online gambling posted $88.7m in revenue, up 63.1 per cent. That was mainly driven by slots ($63.2m), with table games ($22.9m) and online poker ($2.6m) far behind.
Sports betting raked $19m, up 145.7 per cent year-on-year, on a handle of $304.4m (up 84.7 per cent).
