Tribal Casinos were victim of cyberattack

Six casinos were victims of a ransomware attack that held the casinos’ mainframe’s hostage. Casinos are seen as appealing targets since the vast majority of games are computerized.

The FBI is already investigating the cyberattack on casinos that took place this week.  Cybercrime expert Teresa Rule said that sometimes sensitive information can get compromised.

According to the casinos, the lights went down, and computers data was accessed during the attack. Casinos have not made public whether or not the customer information was taken.

Casino officials said that all employees would receive their salaries even if some of the venues remain closed for a time. They also said that any affected customers and employees would receive a letter detailing what steps to take.

One of the venues hit was the tribal casino Lucky Star Casino in Concho, western Oklahoma. It has already reopened.
