With the intention of closing the chapter of the controversy that has provoked the operation of casinos in the royal street of Armenia, Carlos Alberto Mendoza Parra, director of the Administrative Department of Planning of Armenia; "In volume 7 of the Territorial Planning Plan, POT, in the normative sheet 4 that corresponds to the center of the city, says that casinos are allowed throughout the center of Armenia. Likewise, in race 14, that is, it includes La Calle Real. In addition, the document says that new casinos are only allowed inside shopping centers and large commercial areas with typology C2 and C3 and hotel establishments with 4 or more stars. " (READ HERE: CASINOS IN ARMENIA, COULD BE CLOSED FOR EVER OWING A “BAD TRICK”)
The typology C2 are large commercial areas of wholesale and retail with attached storage in areas greater than 5 mts2, while typology C3 refers to shopping centers, buildings or a set of buildings that have areas greater than 3000 Mts2 and are in a grouping of commercial premises and service provision, with internal regulations and common areas for their operation (where the dynamics of operation of units that can be housing or commerce converge).
"If in any part of the center there is a building that has an area of more than 5,000 square meters built, they can build a casino"
But "You want it to be compatible with the use if someone says that they are going to set up a disco in the La Patria neighborhood, that use would not be compatible because the sector does not allow this kind of high-impact business within the POT Residential areas ".
"In planning we issue the concept, compared to planning when we make the query and we say whether it is compatible or not. Until the normative sheet, we arrived ". But they say about casinos that are a state monopoly and we cannot regulate in that matter, so there would be no closure of any, affirmed Mendoza
