Colombia is reinforcing its position as a regulatory powerhouse in Latin America’s gaming industry after it was confirmed on April 13, 2026, that Bogotá will host the 10th Ibero-American Gaming Summit on May 5–6, bringing together regulators and industry leaders from across the region.
Organized with the support of Coljuegos and led by its president Marco Emilio Hincapié Ramírez, the summit is set to gather stakeholders from more than 12 countries, positioning Colombia at the center of regulatory dialogue in a rapidly expanding market.

The event, themed “Latam: A regulated market driving opportunities”, goes beyond a traditional conference. It serves as a high-level policy platform focused on regulation, compliance, anti-money laundering controls, and sustainable market growth. As Latin America accelerates its transition toward regulated betting ecosystems—led by developments in Brazil and Peru—Colombia stands out as the region’s most mature and structured model.

Since launching regulated online betting in 2016, Colombia has built a hybrid gaming market combining digital and land-based operations. By 2025, the sector generated over COP 1.3 trillion in online revenues and nearly COP 378 billion from land-based casinos, with funds largely directed to public health.

This regulatory stability has turned Colombia into a benchmark for emerging markets, exporting expertise in licensing, supervision, and enforcement. Unlike fragmented or transitioning markets in the region, Colombia offers a consolidated framework that balances growth with control.

Hosting the summit signals more than recognition—it confirms Colombia’s evolution from a national regulator to a regional leader shaping gaming policy across Latin America. As the continent becomes one of the fastest-growing gambling markets globally, Bogotá’s role underscores a broader shift: Latin America is no longer an emerging market—it is becoming a strategic driver of the global gaming industry.
