Colombian´s Women football is facing the most crisis in its history in Colombia, since lately it has been the subject of serious polemics such as the one that took place in mid-February, where sexual abuse was reported against Didier Luna and Sigilfredo Alonso, technical director and assistant to the U-17 selection.
Other complaints from the players have been that several times they had to get out of their own pockets to pay for air tickets to go to concentrations, there were no travel expenses, incomplete payment for being fifth in the 2015 World Cup in Canada, uniforms used, with carving of men, 700 days without preparation after the Olympics in London and 400 days after Rio 2014. All are complaints without answers, without solutions.
This was later accompanied by a statement from the Ombudsman, which showed that the directors were thinking of ending the women´s national team because it did not generate the same income as male football.
For his part, Carlos Gonzalez Puche, president of Acolfutpro, said that the problem is not the lack of money to have a decent league, but the sponsors were not encouraged to give their money to a Federation that did not give them confidence. This gave rise to the fact that the actors involved in this sector will begin to question the million dollars donated by FIFA to support women's football in the country.
However, on Tuesday of the last week there was a meeting with the Dimayor with the presence of directors of the 36 professional football clubs, where the decision was made to have a third edition of the tournament, and a commission was created to define the economic terms and sports of the same.
In addition to this, the problem of economic sustainability for which this initiative is supposed to pass in its initial phases was discussed. In such a way, that there was talk of the need to seek financial support, where not only did I start playing the search for sponsorships, which will be done in conjunction with the Vice Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Labor and Coldeportes. But also, the gambling regulator, Coljuegos.
In this way, Coljuegos will begin a new stage of work where not only will it contribute to the health sector, but through the support of the National Government it will also begin to contribute to the development of women's soccer, it is not yet clear what percentage will transfer, because it is a work that will begin to be developed by all those involved.
"We talked about a game of money from Coljuegos, we want to propose that a part of the money goes to women's football. That was a decision we made because those funds go to health, but without authorization from us, so it was a request from the Minister of Labor, "said the president of Dimayor, Jorge Enrique Velez
This happened after everyone in the assembly, argued about how sports betting enjoy the use of the names and imagery of football teams without having to pay for it, because as in past discussions have stated, they are the ones who provide the spectacle by means of which the sports betting operators are enriched, and they continue without receiving part of the slice for the maintenance of the same one.
Finally, a commission will be made to work on what will be the professional league of women's football, looking to create a solid project, the Dimayor has a challenge against the clock, since the start date of this competition is in August.
