Bogotá, October 2025 — Colombia’s national gaming authority, Coljuegos, has officially granted the concession for a new Keno lottery game, which will use blockchain technology to ensure transparency, traceability, and secure transactions. According to Coljuegos, the initiative could contribute COP485 billion (€107 million) to the country’s public health sector over the next five years.
The tender process was open and competitive, resulting in four regional operators: Operador Regional de Keno S.A.S., Costa Operador Keno S.A.S., Keno Región 3 S.A.S., and Blinkazar S.A.S. Together, they will manage operations across all 32 departments of Colombia, establishing over 16,000 sales terminals nationwide.

Each operator will now begin a four-month training and implementation phase, with official sales expected to begin in January 2026. The game will feature draws every six to ten minutes, seven days a week, streamed on YouTube and official digital platforms.
Coljuegos president Marco Emilio Hincapié described the launch as “a milestone in Latin American gaming,” marking the first regulated blockchain-based game in the region. He emphasized that the use of blockchain will “enhance public trust by making every ticket traceable and verifiable in real time.”

Players will be able to select 10 numbers out of 80, with prizes determined by the number of matches out of 20 drawn balls. Wagers will range from COP1,000 (€0.22) to COP20,000 (€4.40), with top payouts reaching COP1.68 billion (€369,600). Analysts see the Keno rollout as a bold move to modernize Colombia’s regulated gaming framework, blending traditional lottery formats with advanced technology to stimulate participation and fund essential healthcare programs.
