Last Thursday, the fifth edition of the Ibero-American summit game was held. The event that focused its efforts on seeing reflected the opinion of the regulators of 12 countries present, in everything related to online games.
The summit was held under an amicably and respectfully environment from both among speakers and attendees in the city of Medellin, the different tables were about the topic online and the arrival of various international operators in Latin America looking for the potential for growth and development that has the region thanks to countries such as Colombia have managed to successfully regulate this sector of the market, which allows the various operators in the sector to interact with a much more legal and transparent market, assuring them a positioning opportunity on the national territory that depends clearly on its excellent services.
Among other issues discussed were the vision of Coljuegos about its procedures which will seek to develop until they become fully automatable allowing the operator a greater speed in the development of all legal operations, achieving more agility responses from the regulatory body so that the sector can have a greater dynamism in terms of regulations, this automation seeks to get along with the technologies of today, where the operator does not have to go anywhere where he has to wait for the end of long lines but on the contrary, everything can be resolved through the operator's portal easily and quickly, said Juan B. Pérez.
The president of the entity also affirmed and emphasized that Coljuegos today has a strategic planning to 10 years, based on three strategic objectives:
1. Increase rents
2. Promote the legal and responsible game
3. Institutionally strengthen Coljuegos
Among the issues related to online gambling, two key points for the future of the industry were highlighted, the first and well known by all players of games of luck and chance, are sports betting operators, who have slowly arrived in the national territory after this market was made more attractive to them by means of several strategies on the part of the Colombian government and evidently Coljuegos.
Among these strategies, the importance of a much more transparent and legal sector is highlighted, as well as the reduction of VAT, which, according to international speakers, has been a stronger factor for them to be interested in taking root here.
In addition, they explained that for the Colombian market the physical presence of the operators is still necessary, that is, they cannot even implement strategies solely from the online part, but that 50% of their commercial strategy should be aimed at fostering face-to-face experiences. Colombian players.
Another issue that was not only relevant but also enigmatic was the homologation within the industry, the participants in this panel were Juan Carlos Gómez, general manager of Winner Group Cirsa Colombia, Evert Montero president of Fecoljuegos, Federico Nuñez chief legal officer of coljuegos and Antonio Porsia CEO of HBG Gaming SRL
This panel discussed between topics such as models of successful localized games in Ibero-American, this being what allowed them to address the issue of homologation where Juan Carlos Gómez stated that "the homologation must be done with international standards and be converted into security for all actors". Notion that was supported by Evert Montero who said he agreed with the homologation "because it gives us transparency, formalization and professionalization", because allowing this transmission of information against the law between operators and Coljuegos would give a better overview of the latter on the current which has the sector of games of chance in Colombia.
“we agree with the homologation because it gives us transparency, formalization and professionalization” unofficial translation
However, among the arguments exchanged by these speakers, it was stated that the affectation of the approval for old or older slot machines must be attacked, because this procedure is only valid for the newer ones, leaving this an information gap or legality for Coljuegos which must be taken into account.
In this way, the president of Fecoljuegos said that the best would be the "scrapping of this batch of machines that cannot enter the approval process", according to him, it would be the best solution since it eliminates all this legal vacuum, and this process would not be something new within the industry at a global level, because in countries like Italy this was a successful solution to attack and end up, according to Montero and the panel participants. with the illegality of the industry.
