Within the framework of the global forum Compliance IV, recently organized in the city of Medellin by the Colombian Association of Compliance and the firm Moncada Abogados, the need for Coljuegos to establish legal guidelines for a greater control in gambling was discussed, having a fundamental role the provision of technological tools for the industry to advance in the digital transformation.
Colombia has had a very curious growth in terms of technology, especially if we talk about localized games. In this sector, the operators have been the ones who have been the ones who have most pulled the advance in technological matters due to the same market, since the clients are more and more demanding and want more competitive and innovative offers, however, Coljuegos has not always been able to keep up with these advances, slowing down a little the quality of the offer.
"One of the problems is that we are not going so fast, which means that we are very prone to be victims of illegality" María Paola Isaza
Because of this reality, Colombian associations have asked the entity for a greater technological capacity in favor of the sector and focused on combating illegality. Along the same lines, María Paola Isaza, from V&L Consultores Legales, assured that one of the problems of the industry is to go at a slow pace, as this makes them prone to be victims of illegality.
"Risks must be mitigated, illegality, evasion, we have a big deficiency because there is still a pachydermic state. We must develop these activities with greater advantages", assured the president of Fecoljuegos, Evert Montero.
Although there has been an evolution in the compliance of standards, there will always be challenges to prevent the systems from being manipulated, since the evolution and technological development are constant. In fact, Elizabeth Maya, president of Cornazar, proposed the establishment of more standards in which end clients are included, since they are a fundamental part of the operation.
She also placed special emphasis on improving the entity's existing platforms to speed up all the processes that operators go through, and to promote legality through the ease of procedures.
"It is very important to have a framework of legality and work on digital transformation and security," Maya said.
The Compliance IV international forum was attended by experts from 15 countries: China, Russia, Italy, Lebanon, France, Spain, Switzerland, England, USA, Canada, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Estonia and Colombia
