Brazilian influencer Virginia Fonseca appeared before the Senate’s Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Betting (CPI das Apostas).
The investigation focuses on whether public figures profited from promoting online betting platforms such as Blaze and Esportes da Sorte. Fonseca denied earning commissions based on follower losses. "My contracts do not include revenue from user losses," she stated, despite investigations by Revista Piauí suggesting she may have received up to 30% of follower losses through affiliate links.
Senator Soraya Thronicke, rapporteur of the CPI, challenged Fonseca on the clarity and visibility of warning labels in her posts, questioning whether they met standards set by Conar, Brazil’s self-regulatory advertising council.
