The businessmen of the gambling sector joined to send a message to the government of Claudia Lopez, because in Bogota the casinos have suffered great reductions in their income due to the decisions taken by the mayor to reduce and control the contagion by the virus that put in check to the world.
The mayor has decreed on several occasions different quarantines and strong curfews depending on the state of the town in the country's capital.
Making the establishments in those areas must also close their doors but continue to pay their fixed costs, such as rent, payroll, taxes and others.
In this way, the Bogota casino operators asked the District Administration to allow them to extend their working hours. They assure that they are at 40 percent of their sales and the fixed costs that they must pay for health contributions are not allowing support.
They assure that they can work longer hours at night because it is an activity that does not generate large capacity, in a normal time its capacity is 40% full and it is a one-man activity, who plays usually does it alone.
In addition, they are being seriously affected because they must close very early.
The sector indicates that its maintenance and reactivation has been complicated by the few sales and fixed costs, which are financially limited.
The Ministry of Economic Development, Carolina Durán, for her part pointed out that they are evaluating at the reactivation tables, constantly reviewing the dynamics of the sector and looking for solutions. He concluded by assuring that ventilation is a crucial issue for the District and that options are being studied to improve this aspect in the sense of increasing ventilation to the interior to eventually increase the capacity of the casinos, a news of hope for the sector in the capital.
The sector is waiting for authorization from the health secretary to evaluate what type of ventilation is adequate for this increase to be achieved.
