Atlantic City hits 14-Year high as casinos surge in July

Published date: 2026-08-17

Atlantic City closed July 2026 with its strongest land-based casino performance in 14 years, reinforcing the importance of traditional casino gaming in New Jersey at the height of the summer season. The result made July one of the city’s strongest months since the early 2010s for its nine brick-and-mortar casinos, supervised by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), led on an acting basis by Mary Jo Flaherty, within the Department of Law & Public Safety headed by Attorney General Jennifer Davenport.

The market includes Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, operated by MGM Resorts International; Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City; Ocean Casino Resort; Caesars Atlantic City; Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City; Tropicana Atlantic City; Golden Nugget Atlantic City; Bally’s Atlantic City; and Resorts Casino Hotel. July’s momentum followed a more moderate June, when Atlantic City’s casinos generated US$257.3 million in Casino Win, down 0.7% year-on-year. Slots contributed approximately US$186 million, while table games generated around US$71.3 million. Borgata led the market that month with roughly US$72.2 million.

The historical comparison highlights the strength of the latest result. In July 2025, land-based Casino Win had reached US$284.1 million, including US$212.8 million from slots and US$71.3 million from table games. Borgata generated US$79.9 million, followed by Hard Rock with US$55.1 million, Ocean with US$43.1 million, Tropicana with US$22.9 million, Harrah’s with US$20.4 million, Caesars with US$18.8 million, Resorts with US$16.8 million, and Bally’s with US$14.1 million.

Atlantic City also entered 2026 after finishing 2025 with US$2.89 billion in land-based Casino Win, its strongest annual performance in more than a decade. Beyond casino floors, New Jersey maintains a multibillion-dollar gaming ecosystem. In June 2026, iGaming generated US$271 million, sports betting produced US$57.3 million, and statewide Total Gaming Revenue reached US$585.6 million. First-half revenue totaled US$3.52 billion, with US$500.5 million in gross revenue taxes.

Operators have also continued investing in Atlantic City. Hard Rock committed US$50 million in 2026 investments, while the sector had invested nearly US$200 million in renovations and upgrades ahead of the summer season.
