Coljuegos must hold on Gambling taxes payment due to COVID-19

Coljuegos taxes. Appealing Article 3 of Law 643, where the term “economic rationality” is mention, and establishes administrative criteria and efficiency to guarantee “the profitability and productivity necessary for the full fulfillment of the public purpose” Cornazar asks Coljuegos, the postponement of the payment of the exploitation rights of March 2020.

In the letter sent, the union explains that the compulsory isolation and temporary closure of establishments, which the industry has been complying with since March 17, causes a lack of income that, according to Cornazar, Coljuegos must take into account in the payment of taxes.

According to the union, this is sought "for the benefit of the concessionary companies that, being small and medium-sized, have limited sustainability, protecting employment and sources of health resources"

On the other hand, Evert Montero, president of Fecoljuegos, joins the initiative to join forces, both the public and private parties, to overcome the pandemic, since he publicly expressed:

"It is a time to be united and take the country forward. We have asked the Colombian State for tax relief due to the great crisis we are going through. We do not want the payments to be payment-free, but we do want them to be deferred to us at prudent and reasonable times, when the cash flow is reactivated and these taxes can be covered”

Finally, casino operators have begun to circulate and send a letter to Coljuegos seeking to receive payment facilities for the exploitation rights of the settlement period of March and April in the following terms:

- That the payment be deferred in equal instalments payable for 12 months. The first instalment would be paid two months after the end of the health emergency.

- No overdue payment or remunerative interest is generated.

Here is the letter that is being circulated for you to print and send if you agree in Spanish
